I’ll be completely honest, this is a good guitar to have around when you have no other and it’s certainly better than the Hondo I started out on some fifteen or so years ago. But in the end, this guitar really is only suitable for beginners or intermediates that have no interest in advancing. I was amazing by how many good reviews this guitar has. The action is poor (even after my adjustments), the acoustic sound it has is dull. It’s promoted by sellers as being one of the higher end “cedar” guitars. Which I find funny, because when I first started playing it, I looked at it and laughed… “what a cheap guitar, it’s made of cedar!” I assume that’s the reason it has such a dull sound (or soft sound as their promoters would write).
For a solid, vibrant and amazing acoustic sound, you’ll probably to spend between 350 and 1000 (us). This guitar goes for 300 [us], and I can tell you, it’s over priced. Severely.

I’ve been playing my beginniner acoustic guitar for about 3 years now, and I felt like it was time to buy a ‘one upper’ guitar. I love playing blues and country, as well as classic rock.
I’ve been searching for ‘the right’ guitar for the past year. My budget was originally $150 however once I played this one, it went up. As soon as I picked up this guitar, I noticed it’s physical qualities right away: a light, crispy, smooth, simple, good looking guitar. When I started playing some country songs, I noticed that it’s sound was unique relative to all the other guitar’s that I’ve been trying. The wood vibrates uniquely, because it is made of ‘lighter’ wood…(solid cedar top, nato back and sides). I LOVE this guitar and I highly reccomend it. I also read in a few corners on the internet that Cedar Wood ages well and sounds great after 10 years. The tuners are chrome, and there is a simple inlay around the edge of the face, which gives a clean simple look.
Possible downers: For some people who like to rough the guitar around a bit, or play hard and scratch the top…the soft cedar wood scratches VERY easily. You can make a dent in it with your fingernail with a little pressure. It does NOT have a pickguard (however you can find these for about 5-10$)

This is my second guitar, the first was a Fender DG-60 and it was terrible to play so I called Guitar Center where I got it from and they said come on over and return the Fender and see what else I would like…no problem…so I go to GC and they show me this Takamine GS330S….WOW… it’s easy to play and the sound is just uncomparable compared to ALL higher end models….solid cedar top makes this baby sing……a definite 10….go get this baby right now!!!!!!!!!

This is a great intermediate guitar built for gentle music…it has a very mellow voice, the overtones are clear, mid-range, and it is greatly softened by the minimally treated spruce body with a very slight curvature to the back. I bought mine 3 years ago retail ($329 + 9%) at a Guitar Center in Louisiana.
I recommend this guitar for jazz players and soft-voiced singers.
